Why I'm Running

I was born and raised in Victoria, and I live here today. For the past five years, I have run a small business downtown, where I see every day what is working, what is not, and how much people still care about this city.

When my lease came up, I had a choice. Like many others, I could have left. Instead, I chose to stay and keep investing in Victoria.

Now I am choosing to step up. I am running for council because Victoria can be safe, vibrant, accountable, and truly working for the people who live here, work here, and visit here.

My Priorities

Rebuild Safety

Restore confidence downtown.

  • People should want to come downtown, and they should feel safe when they do.
  • Safety is not just about enforcement. It is about predictability, order, and trust.
  • Families should feel comfortable downtown. Business owners should feel protected. Residents should trust that standards are clear and applied consistently.

Clear standards and measurable results.

  • When public money is spent, there should be oversight, transparency, and performance.
  • If a program is working, Melissa will support it. If it is not delivering results, she will push for it to be reviewed and adjusted.
  • Taxpayers deserve to know their money is being used effectively, and residents deserve systems that are transparent and have integrity.

Bring energy and pride back to the capital city.

  • Victoria should be safe, vibrant, and truly working for the people who live here, work here, and visit here.
  • Reviving Victoria does not mean becoming another Vancouver.
  • It means protecting what makes the city unique: heritage, charm, historic buildings, and local businesses, while making the city function responsibly and efficiently.
